Natan Sharansky is a human rights activist and promoter of democratic values and freedom for all the world’s citizens. After spending nearly a decade in a Soviet prison, Sharansky eventually won his freedom and the right to emigrate to Israel in 1986. Following his arrival in Israel, Sharansky served in four Israeli governments as Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, published three bestselling books, and was a recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. He remains a champion of the right of all people to live in freedom, and believes that the advancement of liberty is critical to peace and security around the world. Natan Sharansky currently serves as the Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel.
