JERUSALEM, Israel - The Jewish Agency for Israel is holding its Annual Assembly and meeting of the Board of Governors at the Inbal Hotel in Jerusalem from June 18 to 23rd.
Avraham Berkowitz, FJC Executive Director, and the Chief Rabbi of S. Petersburg Menachem Mendel Pewzner attended working session on the trends and development of Jewish life in the Former Soviet Union.
At the working session, Rabbi Pewzner addressed the development and growth of the Jewish community in the CIS and Baltic countries, as well as the contribution of the Lubavitcher Rebbe to the development of Jewish life in the Former Soviet Union.
On Sunday, Avraham Berkowitz also held separate meeting with several senior officials of the Jewish Agency, including the Board of Governors' Chairperson Carole Solomon. They spoke about numerous projects involving cooperation between the Jewish Agency and the Federation of Jewish Communities. Avraham Berkowitz thanked the Jewish Agency for being a partner in the 'Gan Israel' summer camp program that FJC operates in the Former Soviet Union. This collaboration has made summer camps a success for the Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Zhitomir, and other Jewish communities.
