Miami Federation Awards Scholarships To Ethiopian Students

December 12, 2007 /  3 Tevet 5768

For the second consecutive year the Jewish community of Miami, in the framework of Operation Promise, distributed scholarships to students of Ethiopian origin who are residents of Pardes Hanna-Karkur. Scholarships for 16 students were awarded this year.

Attending the ceremony were Shay Felber, representative of the Jewish Agency and regional director, Mr. Haim Gaash, the mayor, Rina Gan, representative of the Miami community in Israel and Mark Tannenbaum, chairperson of the Operation Promise committee of the Miami Federation.

All the student scholarship recipients committed themselves to volunteer work for the community in Pardes Hanna-Karkur and participate in a course for leadership and social involvement.  The Miami Federation undertook as part of Operation Promise to adopt Pardes Hanna-Karkur.

Please join the Jewish Agency in ensuring that greater numbers of new immigrant students have the scholastic ability and the self-esteem necessary to advance academically. Click here to find out more.
