The fifth annual Chicago Nachson Mission recently visited Jewish Agency activities in the North of Israel.
The mission numbering 80 men, visited the Ayalim project in Kiryat Shmona on their first day up North. With the help of the mission's donations, three shelters were renovated into a dance studio, library, and an arts and crafts studio. The men took the initiative in painting and repairing the shelters and their surroundings.
On the following day, the mission visited two Jewish Agency absorption centers in Safed; Tzahal 9 and Meron. They were warmly welcomed by their directors, Yonatan Freedman and Mark Dovev, and the new immigrants. The mission participants learned about the Jewish Agency and their activities in the North and about Ethiopian aliyah.
At the conclusion of their visit, lone soldier Maya Naor, a new immigrant from Spain and a graduate of the NATIV program, spoke to the group.
