A delegation from the Israel and Overseas Committee from northern New Jersey recently visited the Jewish Agency's Karmiel Absorption Center.
The delegation visited the ulpan at which young people from different programs and countries join together to learn Hebrew. The students are participants of Sela and Kedma and many are new immigrants from Ethiopia, FSU, and India. In addition, the delegation visited an ulpan class of Bnei Menashe families. After witnessing the educational achievements of the Karmiel Absorption Center, the delegation gathered in the cultural hall where the absorption center’s director spoke about the center’s programs and new immigrants from the former Soviet Union, India and Ethiopia related stories of their first steps in Israel.

The artistic program that followed starred a choir of youngsters from the FSU and Bnei Menashe as well as traditional dances by Bnei Menashe girls. The delegation enjoyed their visit and learned much about the Jewish Agency’s programs.
