A Meeting with Lone Soldiers

January 7, 2008 / 29 Tevet 5768

On Tuesday, January 1, 2008, members of the Chicago Winter Family Mission met with lone soldiers at the Anna Ticho House restaurant in Jerusalem.

The lone soldiers, who arrived from various places worldwide (Brazil, the Czech Republic and the United States), chatted with delegation members and their children about their aliyah and the experiences that they encountered during the course of military service.

Each year, hundreds of lone immigrant soldiers bravely put their lives on the line to ensure a strong, safe Israel for Jews around the world. Standing on the threshold of adulthood, these young men and women have left family, friends and comfortable lives behind to make aliyah and serve in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).  To find out more about the Fund for Lone Immigrant Soldiers, click here.
