|
The Earl of Balfour served as prime minister (1902-1905), foreign secretary (1916-1919), and leader of the conservative party for 20 years. He is famous for two proclamations which bear his name. The 1917 Balfour declaration which called for the establishing of a Jewish Homeland and a 1926 report which gave official status to the British commonwealth.
