Haifa University one of Israel's more recent Universities. It was founded in 1963 as the Haifa University College. The university stands at the top of Mount Carmel and is surrounded by the Carmel forests. The university has the highest percentage of Druze and Arab Students in the country. It boasts a Center for Maritime Studies, schools of Education and Social Work and the Oranim Teachers' College.
