Max Fleischer (1885-1972)

Fleischer Max

Influential and innovative cartoonist, Fleischer was the publisher of Popeye. In 1917, he developed a method of producing animated cartoons which led him to create such classics as "Out of the Inkwell", Ko-Ko the Clown, Popeye, and Betty Boop. The latter was judged to be too immoral and he was pressured to take it off the screen. He is considered one of the pioneers of his field with over 25 patents taken out in his name.
