Hilfsverein advertising  services available for refugees

Jewish leader and philanthropist. Nathan was considered one of most important Jewish German leaders of his time He founded Hilfsverein der Deutschen Juden in 1901 and was active in almost ever relief effort on behalf of Russian Jewry. Nathan was convinced that overthrowing the Czarist government was a necessity and he supported revolutionary groups. An avid assimilationist, he believed that it would help end anti-Semitism.
