A Bridge to Success

Reut Itzhak

November 28, 2007 / 18 Kislev 5768

“The Jewish Agency's Pre-Atidim Program has great teachers. They bring learning from theory to practice and always have time to give us individual attention. I believe that I can achieve anything I put my mind to, but it is important to have people support me along the way.” - Reut Itzhak

With her exotic eyes and lovely features, Reut Itzhak (18) is the classic Persian beauty. She is witty and intelligent and confident that with enough hard work, she can succeed in anything she sets out to do.

The daughter of an Indian father and an Iranian mother, Reut, who lives in Lod, was always encouraged to invest in her studies and to develop herself. In addition to excelling in math and biology, she is doing a full matriculation in drama.

Reut enjoys the courses in the Pre-Atidim Program. As opposed to her regular classes that have 40 kids and hassled teachers, Atidim works in small groups and makes learning fun. Each student receives individualized assistance in order to help them achieve an advanced high-school diploma. Additional enrichment activities such as university lectures, volunteer work, summer camps, and challenge activities, provide further opportunities for social and personal development.

In its first year (2002), the Pre-Atidim Program operated in 40 schools in 20 development towns, reaching approximately 2,000 high school students. The program has been so successful that it is now operating in 110 schools in more than 50 towns, reaching 8,000 students. The goal is to reach 20,000 students per year over the next few years.

The Pre-Atidim Program gives extra assistance to students like Reut in order to help them achieve an advanced high-school diploma. With your help, the Jewish Agency can continue to offer today’s disadvantaged youth a more positive and enriching future. To contribute to Atidim, click here.
