Introduction
From amusement parks to nature reserves, from kayaking to a three-day tour of Jerusalem, Sderot’s over 8,000 children and youth participated in a variety of camps last summer, thanks to a special campaign, To Sderot with Love, run by the Jewish Agency and supported by its partners around the world.
This summer the Jewish Agency will provide day and overnight camp opportunities to youth between the ages of 6 and 17 living in Sderot and the surrounding area, taking them to camps or on field trips outside the zone, which has suffered rocket attacks from the Gaza Strip for the past seven years. The summer camp project for Sderot area youth is funded by the Israel Emergency Fund of the United Jewish Communities, Jewish Federations across North America, the communities of Keren Hayesod, UIA – Canada, the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago, the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit , the Jewish Federation Council of Greater Los Angeles, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, the Jewish Community Federation of Cleveland, the UJA-Federation of New York, the ASSOCIATED: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, and Israeli donors.
