Jewish Federations across North America and Keren Hayesod, the Jewish Agency for Israel provided an exciting array of free
summer camps over seven weeks in July and August to over 8,000 children, aged 6-17, from Sderot and the surrounding area.

Counselors and staff at the Jewish Agency summer camps for the children of
Sderot received special training in assisting campers with post-traumatic stress. "The youth movement counselors said that
they see signs of trauma and stress in kids all the time, but they were never taught how to address these issues. These are
vital skills for counselors,” says the Jewish Agency's Yael Raz.

All across the former Soviet Union, Jewish Agency summer camps are a cultural lifeline for thousands of
young Jews, connecting them with their rich religious and cultural roots and strengthening their relationship with Israel.
This summer, over 10,000 children and youth, ages 7-17, participated in 70 fun-filled camps.

Thousands of new immigrant children and children from disadvantaged communities in the North and Sderot
received a gift certificate to buy new school supplies at Office Depot through the Jewish Agency's Making the Grade program.
This small gift gave these children a sense of pride on their first day of school.
