FEDERATION CJA's Francophone Mission 2005 to Israel (18-28 July 2005) recently returned to Montreal. The group of 30 toured all over Israel, from the Golan Heights in the north to Eilat in the south, spending time in Montreal's Partnership 2000 regions, Beer Sheva and Bnei Shimon. One of the many highlights was a visit to Givot Bar, the new desert community being established with the support of the Montreal Jewish community, where the group planted trees and met with local residents.
According to Mission Chairman, Mr. Nissim Amar, based on feedback and reactions of the participants, the visit was a resounding success. Mission members were given a detailed overview of the country - its history, economy, politics, needs, and the current reality. "Everyone will return to Montreal as special ambassadors for Israel!" says Amar.
