Partnership 2000 Beit Shemesh - Mateh Yehuda -Washington - South Africa of the Jewish Agency in cooperation with the Municipality of Beit Shemesh and EEW - Economic Empowerment for Women's Foundation, are sponsoring a course entitled "Saving for the Future".
The course, which includes 16 women, is geared towards women who run small businesses and are in difficult economic circumstances. They are taught how to save money even on the smallest budget and after two years of savings they will be given 50% matching funds with which they can purchase equipment for their business, take a professional course or something else that will advance their business..
The course began this past Spring and the first part of the course the women learned about the concept of saving and budgeting and received many materials to help them work towards this goal.
The second part of the course will include: Meetings with bank representatives to explain banking concepts and fees, loans, establishing credit lines and more. They will then meet with insurance agents to discuss the concepts of pension and life insurance and will even have a session on time management.
At the end of the course the women will meet in small groups together with a financial consultant where they will practice writing up their family and business budget. Each woman will bring in her bills, bank statements, etc. and will be shown how to put all the information into an Excel spreadsheet and to plan month by month her expenditures.
