A shipment of Purim costumes collected by the Gordon family from Detroit was the source of great happiness for children from Migdal HaEmek. The costumes were sent by the Federation to Partnership 2000 in Central Galilee.
In festive Purim spirit, trustees of the Youth Futures program in Migdal HaEmek organized a Purim party for the children of Sambatyon kindergarten.
The trustees wanted to give an original surprise to the children and arrived with an assortment of colorful costumes, generously contributed by the Gordon family of Detroit via Partnership 2000. Before entering the kindergarten, they all dressed up at Youth Futures House and decorated themselves. Then, in a happy and playful spirit, they walked in to surprise the children.
Upon seeing this spectacle, the children were filled with shock and excitement as the momentary sense of embarrassment quickly turned into a riotous celebration.
The trustees dressed up the children and applied make-up to their excited faces. The small ones were transformed from kindergarten tykes into princesses, clowns, dancers and an array of figures from their favorite TV shows. The general sense of excitement was great. Both children and trustees broke out into singing and dancing, took pictures and celebrated together. Later, the children served the trustees warm and tasty hamentashen prepared by kindergarten teachers Marcelle and Eti.
It was hard for the trustees and the children to part from one another after celebrating in such a special and magical atmosphere…
Our immense thanks to the Gordon family and the Detroit Federation for collecting and sending the costumes, which arrived just on time. And a special thanks to Dvora Yifrach of Migdal HaEmek who, on the same day her son enlisted in the army, helped out in delivering the costumes to their final destination.
