A group of teenagers from Kiryat Bialik spent a week in Boca Raton participating in a unique program called The Musical Connection. They brought “Israel in song” into the community's Yom HaZikaron and Yom HaAtzmaut events. The program took place within the framework of the Jewish Agency's Partnership 2Gether between SPBC and KB.
The teens were hosted by a group of their peers from Donna Klein Jewish Academy, who spent as much time with them as they could. They took trips to fun places, met with Hillel students at FAU, and spent Shabbat with their host families.
Mostly, the Israeli teens were moved to find out how significant Israel's special days were for Jewish people in America. "There was even a siren at the school on Yom Hazikaron," they remarked. The teens were proud to represent Israel on stage at the community's main event, Israel Under the Stars, both in songs and in flag carrying, and were warmly welcomed by the thousands of people who came to celebrate Israel's 64th Independence Day.
