The second stage of the Youth Futures program will focus on children who have completed the first and intensive Trustee stage and have continued on to high school, but are still in need of support to progress scholastically and emotionally. These children will be considered "Trustee Graduates" (i.e. graduated from the Trustee stage).
Goal
This component is designed to ensure that none of the children are left without support after completing the first stage. Their Trustee will continue helping where needed in order to make sure that the Graduates are setting new goals and achieving them -especially in studying for the matriculation diploma, which will allow them to be accepted and continue their studies at institutions of higher education in Israel.
Approach
Our basic assumption is that the Trustees will work with their children for 3 years, and that in some of the more extreme cases this may not be sufficient. After undergoing a professional evaluation the children that are found still in need of guidance and support will continue for up to 2 additional years.
After this period, the Graduates will be supported with a personal work plan, based on the resources already available in their locality. These resources will give the basic support needed, and will be funded from a "Personal Empowerment Basket".
The outcome is that - starting from the program's third year of operation - approximately 45 children from each grade that graduates annually will continue on as Graduates, and 45 new elementary school children will be added in their place.
