Many of the students in Youth Aliyah’s junior high school program have celebrated their bar/bat mitzvahs over the past month within the framework of the villages’ annual “coming of age” celebrations.
At Kiryat Yearim eight children celebrated their bar/bat mitzvah this year.
The parents of the bar/batmitvah children came to stay overnight at the village and the following morning they traveled to the Kotel for the actual bar/batmitvah before touring the Western Wall tunnels and the Tower of David Museum.
At Ramat Hadassah Szold 28 children traveled to Jerusalem and the Kotel for their bar/bat mitzvah.
Sixteen boys from Ben Yakir celebrated their barmitzvah this year at the village with Jewish Agency chairman Zeev Bielski in attendance.
The event was made possible thanks to the generous contributions from Gabi Weisfeld from Toronto, Canada as well as from Marla Dan through UIA Canada.
The barmitzvah boys had previously traveled to Jerusalem to see the Kotel, and tour the Jewish Quarter and the Old City and had also flown down to Eilat for the day thanks to a contribution from the Spirit of Israel.
